’til dawn, i hadn’t been looking to my toes

my eyes to the sky, i only pointed to heaven with my nose,
praying to Orion; as in my youth he knows–
the ember in the other universe still glows.

then light came and day broke, and in my mind my heart spoke
but it was a lie, it’s always a fib, a fable, or a sarcastic joke..
“a chance to polish the tarnished armor of that bloke..”

it’s unlikely i’ll ever meet that fellow, i bitterly lament
but of all the measures i’d made to prevent
a foolhardy journey for unattainable white raiments

astonished my sabotage did not end it all, it just wasn’t over that night-
i still can’t say there’s hope, i long to discover the ember within one Knight.
